Robert Minhinnick and Menna Elfyn ‘TRAITOR TRANSLATOR’?

Robert Minhinnick, Wales Book of the Year winner for Diary of the Last Man, talks about the difficulties of translation and the artistic skill it requires with one of the premier Welsh poets of her day, Menna Elfyn, whose work has been translated into eighteen different languages.

Imagistic: Blurring the Lines

GENERATIONS: Afternoon Tea

A generous afternoon tea and discussion. A renowned poet speaks to a relative newcomer. Cornerstone’s Poet in Residence, Katherine Stansfield, will introduce the featured speakers: Jonathan Edwards (Costa Award-winner for this first poetry collection, who will be reading from his new book, Gen) along with Christopher Meredith, a multi-prizewinning poet and novelist, author of five novels and five poetry collections as well as a recent book of short stories, Brief Lives.

Poems and discussion, full afternoon tea with sandwiches and cakes. With musical interludes from violinist, Christopher Horner.

Event 6 

‘How BAME are you’?

Artist Rabab Ghazoul will introduce this lively selection of authors who have featured in the popular ‘Where I’m Coming From’ readings at the Tramshed in Grangetown. Curated by rising poet and writer Hanan Issa, the event will feature Jafar IqbalUmulkhayr MohamedAdeola DewisAmiina Mohamoud and Hanan herself exploring the BAME label and its implications through live readings of poetry and prose. Come and hear these vibrant voices who live and work in Wales. With a hot buffet meal (halal/vegetarian), Q&A and musical interludes from Eädyth Crawford.
